The caption in the AP photo says that about 22 Hindus and Sikhs were killed as a result of the violence. Date of this visit was May 8, 1947. From early March onwards, riots had already begun in the border districts of Punjab.
Around 7000 to 8000 Sikhs and Hindus were killed in March, 1947 around Rawalpindi villages.
